I would never treat an animal without prior consultation with a vet so please get your vet to check out and, if necessary, treat your pet before booking any sessions for Reiki. Reiki works as a complimentary treatment alongside any medication or surgery needed and will definitely make your pet’s recovery quicker and make them feel more relaxed along the way.
Reiki is given to animals in the same way as to humans and I use my intuition to guide my hands to where the energy is most needed. I may place my hands directly on the animal or hover them above and I would be guided by you as to whether your pet likes to be touched by strangers.
Aside from medical issues our pets often suffer from psychological problems and Reiki can again help with this. I am happy to discuss any behavioural problems you may be having and in many cases this can be attributed to issues of energy the animal is picking up. Reiki has helped my own dog to overcome his agoraphobia and I am now able to walk him confidently. This is not a quick fix for ‘problem pets’ but a few sessions can really help change the way you and your pet approach the issues.
When a much loved pet passes away it is a very real loss for the owner. I have lost pets myself over the years and it never gets any easier. Reiki can help you in your bereavement too and I offer sessions in which you can come and talk about your loss without being judged, or anyone saying things like “you should get another dog straight away” or “it was only a budgie”. You will receive a full Reiki healing session as well to relax you and help to ease your emotional burden. This is especially important if you have other pets still at home as they will pick up on your emotional state and can become very stressed too.
Sessions last for an hour and are usually held in the Reiki room at my home in Portchester in a calm and peaceful setting with soft music playing as I believe our pets enjoy the relaxing atmosphere as much as we do. I can also come to your home if you are unable to come to me, or to bring your pet to me, and I can offer distance healing if needed.
